Mimi is made by Loch Partners LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Mimi.

Who is responsible for your data

What we collect

Mimi does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identifying information. Mimi collects a random device identifier, your purchase history, and information about how you use the app (which screens you see and which fixed options you pick), plus basic device information such as model, iOS version, language and time zone. Who receives each of these, and why, is described in the sections below, and they match the data types on Mimi's App Store privacy label.

Your learning progress, which words you've saved, your streak, your comprehension level, and your settings, is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to us, to any server we operate, or to any third party. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. We have no way to see, recover, or restore it, because we never had it.

Apple processes your subscription payment. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active, through Apple's standard mechanisms, but we do not receive your payment details, Apple handles those directly. See Apple's own privacy policy for how Apple processes payment information.

Subscription status and RevenueCat

To know whether your subscription or free trial is active, Mimi uses RevenueCat, a subscription management service. When you open Mimi, RevenueCat receives two things: a device identifier, which is a random string generated on your device the first time you open the app (it is not your name, email address, Apple ID, phone number, or advertising identifier), and your purchase history for Mimi as reported by Apple (which plan you bought, when the trial or subscription started, and whether it is currently active). These are the "Device ID" and "Purchase History" entries on Mimi's App Store privacy label. Neither is linked to your identity, and neither is used for tracking or advertising. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy. We can see it in RevenueCat's dashboard, in aggregate and per identifier. It is kept for as long as the subscription record exists. Deleting the app removes the identifier from your device; to have the record deleted on RevenueCat's side, email support@mimifeed.com.

Measuring our ads (Meta)

We advertise Mimi on Instagram. To learn whether those ads work, Mimi includes Meta's software development kit (Meta Platforms, Inc.). It tells Meta when the app is installed and opened, when a free trial starts, and when a subscription is bought, together with a random identifier the kit creates on your device and basic device information. Mimi never asks for permission to track you, so the kit does not receive your advertising identifier (IDFA) and Mimi does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Meta uses this information to measure and improve the performance of our ads, under its own privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy

In the UK and the European Economic Area, Mimi asks before sending these events, and sends nothing to Meta if you say no.

Product analytics (PostHog)

To understand which parts of Mimi help people learn and where they get stuck, the app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, Inc. (servers in the United States). These events record which onboarding screens you saw, the options you picked from fixed menus (such as your level or daily minutes), whether you started a trial, and counts such as clips finished or words saved. They also include basic device information (device model, iOS and app version, language, and time zone). They are tied to a random identifier created on your device. They never include your name, email, anything you type, the words you look up or save, or the videos you watch, and we do not use PostHog to identify you. Why we are allowed to use this data (legal basis)

International transfers

Mimi is run from the United States, and RevenueCat, Meta and PostHog process data in the United States. When data about someone in the UK or EEA goes to the US, it is protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum / EU Standard Contractual Clauses in those providers' data processing terms, or by the provider's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension.

Video playback

Videos inside Mimi are played through YouTube's own embedded player. Mimi does not host, download, or store any video or audio, every clip streams live from YouTube's servers. Because the video is playing on YouTube's own player, Google/YouTube may collect information about that playback (for example, to serve the video) under YouTube's own Terms of Service and Google's own Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. We do not control what Google/YouTube collects during playback and cannot vary it. If you want to review or limit what Google collects, see Google's own privacy controls, not ours.

What we do not do

We do not show ads inside Mimi. We do not sell or rent information about you. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and Mimi never requests tracking permission. Beyond the subscription, ad measurement and analytics data described above, we do not share information about you.

Children

Mimi is not directed at children and is not listed in Apple's Kids Category. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Mimi collects no names, contact details or typed content from anyone; the only data it sends is the anonymous subscription, ad measurement and usage data described above.

Your rights

Because your learning data lives only on your device, you already have full control over it: uninstalling the app deletes it. If you have a question about this policy or believe any information about you has been collected in a way this policy doesn't describe, contact us at support@mimifeed.com.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time (withdrawing does not affect what happened before). Email support@mimifeed.com and include the identifier shown in the app's settings so we can find your records. We reply within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local EEA data protection authority. The only data held about you outside your device is the subscription record (RevenueCat), the ad measurement events (Meta) and the anonymous usage events (PostHog) described above. On request we will confirm what is held and have it deleted. We act on deletion requests within 30 days.

If you are a California resident: we do not sell personal information. Mimi sends app install and purchase events to Meta to measure our own ads; we do not use them to target you on other companies' apps or websites. You can ask us to stop or delete this at support@mimifeed.com, and we will never treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.

Security

Traffic between Mimi and Apple, RevenueCat, YouTube, Meta and PostHog travels over HTTPS. The data on your device is protected by your device's own file protection and passcode. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.

This website

This website carries no third-party analytics, fonts, trackers, or forms. To learn which of our social media posts and profiles bring people here, it sets two first-party cookies: one holds a random visitor number, and the other remembers which of our links you arrived from (for example our Instagram profile) for 30 days. When you open the home page or tap an App Store button, we record that event with the link you came from, your country (worked out from the connection, without storing your IP address), and whether you are on iPhone, Android, or a computer. We also record the name of your network provider (for example "T-Mobile" or a cloud company), never the IP address, so we can leave automated traffic out of our counts. We use this only to count visits and taps per link; we do not sell it, share it, or combine it with anything in the app. The demo on the home page plays one clip through YouTube's embedded player in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com); while it plays, Google may receive your IP address and technical details about your browser under Google's own privacy policy, exactly as it does inside the app. Nothing else on this site loads code from another company.

How long we keep it

RevenueCat subscription records: as long as the subscription record exists, then deleted on request. Meta ad measurement events: under Meta's own retention for advertisers. PostHog usage events: deleted after 12 months.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for a material change, note it in the app's release notes.
